6.3.4. Expansion joints should be arranged in the superstructure in hyperstatic structures with long lengths, taking into account the effects of expansion, shrinkage, temperature changes and shrinkage. In structures exposed to external influences, joint spacing should not exceed 40 meters. In frame-type structures that are protected against temperature changes and do not have rigid curtains at their ends, the joint spacing may increase up to 60 meters. These limits can be exceeded provided that calculations taking into account time-dependent behavior are made or special measures are taken to reduce shrinkage. In non-symmetrical systems and systems with rigid vertical elements on both sides that prevent lateral offsets despite being symmetrical, care should be taken to keep the block sizes between the joints smaller.
