What is Building Information Modeling (BIM)?

You can find many Building Information Modeling (BIM) definitions defined on the web. But in general, it can be said: It is the international name of the system that ideYAPI defines as IDS (Integrated Design System) and has been building since version 5.14. The most basic elements are:

1) Architectural Design
2) Structural Analysis (Static Calculations)
3) Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing
4) Visualization
5) Quantity and Progress Payment

Bim is a process. In this process, architects, engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and other disciplines work together to prepare 3D models of the structures at the design stage, including the materials to be used and the characteristics of the materials, which also helps to reduce the time and material losses that will occur during the construction of the structures, and At an advanced level, it is a system that allows analysis such as cost of quantity before the building starts to be constructed.

In ideCAD Architecture and ideCAD Static, all the elements that make up the project are three-dimensional smart objects. It is possible to work with architectural and static structural elements such as walls, columns, beams, stairs, roofs and furnishings. Objects with parametric properties easily adapt to the design. Since the objects know each other and are related to each other, a change made in an object is automatically reflected on the other elements affected by this change. For example, when you move an axle, you also move the door, size, space and other objects connected to the axle. Sections and metrics are also updated in the same way. When a column size changes, the wall and beam length changes automatically.

Thanks to these smart objects, maximum time savings are achieved. Any change can be made even at the last minute and there is no need to go back and forth. In this way, you can quickly realize even the last-minute suggestions on the project while going to the presentation to the customer.

What is BIM
BIM Building Information Modeling is a concept that is formed by bringing the initials of the words together. Its full Turkish equivalent is translated as Building Information Modeling. So what is Building Information Modeling (BIM)?
It is the name of my system that collects all information about a Structure in a common model and transforms it into a model. It is a process that starts when the building does not exist, only when there is a land, and continues as long as the construction is completed and used. There are also many areas of expertise that provide the services in this process. And also in this process, there are software (computer programs) that these areas benefit from.
The most important stages of this process in terms of both Turkey and other countries; Architectural projecting Static reinforced concrete calculations Application drawings can be listed as Visualization.
According to the "Building Information Modeling", which has been defined before, all of these stages should use the Building Information Model.
It is possible to make this sharing without any loss of information, but only by collecting all the information in a single center. This ideYAPI Information Model is completely possible in Architectural Static Reinforced Concrete Visualization and Drawing stages. For processes that cannot be done with ideYAPI programs at this stage, sharing can also be done with the internationally accepted IFC Model.

What is the BIM process
It is possible to talk about two main streams for Bim Processes in the World. One is information sharing through IFC, which we call “Open BIM”, and the other is Native (that is, using the natural Same Building Information Model Directly) ideYAPI Information model Native, that is, natural lossless information sharing


What is BIM used for
BIM is used to create Architectural designs, Structural analysis and structural designs and to detail Application projects. The structure is modeled down to the last detail in BIM. Using the design options, the model can be used to create visualizations that help stakeholders understand what the structure will look like before implementation. This model is then also used to create details for the construction phase.

Some of the BIM definitions we have made for MEP, Architecture, Static, Reinforced Concrete and steel are as follows.
