Steel Structure Performance Analysis

Hello, in the 15th chapter of the new earthquake regulation, it is said that "capacity calculation of existing and strengthened steel buildings will be made within the framework of the principles defined for the new buildings to be built in sections 4-5-9". Should we understand from this sentence that in order to determine the performance of an existing steel structure, we need to make static analyzes of that structure as if it were newly designed? Likewise, the performance analysis of a steel structure cannot be made in the street, why is that? Should we do a static analysis of an existing steel structure like a new structure to see its ide cad performance? If so, how do we set the performance target?

Hello, There is no difference in the analysis to be made of reinforced concrete or steel. Linear or nonlinear analysis is used. It changes in the job evaluation part. For this, the article below indicates where to look. ideCAD does not evaluate steel building performance. It's not uncommon in the market.

ideCAD does not evaluate steel building performance. It is not a common situation in the market.
It is true, our steel structure stock is very low compared to reinforced concrete, so it is not very common in the market, and therefore, there is no performance analysis suitable for TBDY 2018 automatically in the software yet.
In the 15th chapter of the new earthquake regulation, it is stated that "capacity calculation of existing and strengthened steel buildings will be made within the framework of the principles defined for the new buildings to be constructed in sections 4-5-9".
This article means: Earthquake levels and mass modeling etc. take the conditions of rotation from Chapter 4, the limits of rotation of steel elements from Chapter 5 and the formulas to be used in the capacity calculation with this material model from Chapter 9. Since these processes cannot be done at the moment, it is recommended to produce a project as if designing a new building in order to see the status of the steel structure. This allows you to determine the status of the current project according to the new regulation. However, you will not have produced a project fully compatible with TBDY 2018 Chapter 15, for your information.
