I get the join error message

Hello there; As I shared in the appendix, I entered a 4-bolt joint with a front plate in the weak direction of the column. However, when I press the design report, the join is incorrect. I entered the combinations as the moment transferring system. Can I enter moment-transfer connections from all sides of the column? Or should I solve it with a single slip joint on the weak side?

Re: FAULTY STEEL COLUMN BEAM JOINT!... And the problems in the file; 1- It does not save cross joins. When I intervene, large dimensions appear at the joints. How can I fix this? And what is the reason? 2- In the steel column base plates, the plate thicknesses are too much. Is this normal thickness of 3 cm in some columns and 3.5 cm in others? 3- If we make a moment-transmitting connection in the strong direction of the column and make a single-slip joint in the weak direction, do we have the moment transfer? Thank you in advance for your answers.

Re: FAULTY STEEL COLUMN BEAM JOINT!... Hello; For the weak direction, the bolted joint with the cap plate is designed as the moment-transmitting connection, use it. There are head thickness controls in the design of the butt plate connections, so you will get a warning when you connect them to the body. At the same time, it is not an easy production in the field. The weak side plated joint is located in the weak direction. Do not use a single slip plate joint. As it is mentioned in its name, it is slippery and does not transfer moment. You should only articulate the beams in the sections you enter diagonally. So just enter a single slip plate joint on those beams. Or remove the braces completely and solve the structure that transmits moment in both directions. It is a condition that can happen for colon feet. You can change the material to reduce the thickness.

Re: WRONG STEEL COLUMN BEAM JOINT!... First of all, thank you for the answer. As you said, I made a bolted joint with a header plate in the weak direction. However, I am still unable to enter the design report. Can't we see the report of weak consolidation? is it just rendering as a join detail? I also shared the picture and file in the attachment.

Re: FAULTY STEEL COLUMN BEAM JOINT!... Hello; In TBDY 2018 EK 9B, a restriction has been introduced since the geometry given for the bolted connection with the cap plate is summarized in the form of column head - beam. Currently, the report cannot be obtained with the version you have. However, you can get the correct report if you activate the internal forces of this junction zone on the 8 version. Briefly, for now, do as follows: In your model in version 10, define the internal force results at the node where you entered the union with cap plate and bolt, in version 8, define 2 columns and a beam, and add loads to create the same internal force. Then get the union report from that version. This situation has been sent to the R&D team. A solution will be produced in future versions.

Re: FAULTY STEEL COLUMN BEAM JOINT!... Hello; As you said in ide8.62, I modeled 1 column and 2 beams with the same combination. However, I am getting the same error in this version, and I cannot access the design report. Should I try ide version 8.00? Should I do the combinations on the weak sides of the column or do I do the combinations on the strong side and affect the same loads and get the combination report? Do I have to do this for all combinations that I can't get in ide 10? For example, would it be enough if I made 1 for the same size column beam and the same load combination?

Re: FAULTY STEEL COLUMN BEAM JOINT!... Hello; No, do like this, create this combination by connecting the most unfavorable situation from the nodes you entered to the column strong axis and get the design report. Do not do this for combinations for which you cannot get the other report. For example, if you try this in front plate connections, you will see that the column head parameters are within the control, such as the head thickness, in this case, you will design an incorrect joint because there is no data on the weak axis. Do this application only for bolted connection with header plate. You can do this app in version 10, you don't need to go back to 8. Good work.
