Checking the usage status
Deflections should not occur in structural elements such as floors and beams under the effect of bending, which may make the function difficult, affect the appearance, and cause cracking or crushing of other non-bearing structural elements adjacent to these elements. The cracking condition of the reinforced concrete element should be taken into account in the calculation of the sudden deflections of these elements under permanent and live loads and the deflections caused by the shrinkage and creep effect.
If the beam and especially the floors do not carry deflection sensitive structural elements and are not related to them, the deflection calculation may not be made provided that the ratio of the element height to the span remains above the limits given in Table 13.1 .
