In some projects, I encounter the problem of not being able to provide shear safety in the middle of the elevator curtains (between two curtains) arranged in a U shape. I'm trying to fix this problem by changing the stirrup diameters and spacings, but there are still cases where the problem is not resolved. Assuming that the concrete class and wall thickness cannot be increased further, is it correct to try to solve the problem by reducing the stiffness of the wall? If so, what are the drawbacks of having a 50% reduction ratio?
