R COEFFICIENT

Hello. In a 5-storey building project with a max alpha s coefficient of 0.4432 and curtains in the x direction, I got the rx coefficient of 6.99. During the project control, they insist that the rx be 7. I wonder if my coefficient selection was wrong?

Hello there; The regulation has specified the largest R coefficient that can be selected for frame + curtain systems as 7, so you can choose a smaller coefficient. This coefficient can be 6.99 or 4.99 or 1 for your system. As the coefficient gets smaller, you design under larger earthquake loads. Best regards.

It is necessary to give a little training on regulations to the people in control of the project. They probably think that when R is large, there will be more earthquake load, is the reason why you bought R less than 7 because of the weak floor, I don't understand why you wanted to get such a value.
