Performance analysis and reinforcement

Greetings. I have a 2-storey building built according to the 2007 earthquake regulations. The columns of the building were made as 25/60. An additional 1 floor is desired to be built on this building. In order to make the addition, first of all, we will do a performance analysis after sheathing the columns to bring them to the minimum cross section in order to ensure compliance with the 2018 earthquake code. Or are we going to solve the sheathing and additional floor together according to the 2018 earthquake regulations after performing a performance analysis first?

Hello there; In TBDY 2018 15.1.7, it is said that the principles given in Chapter 15 will be applied to strengthen the damaged building after an earthquake that causes damage to the building and to determine the earthquake performance of the strengthened building afterwards. In this case, performance analysis of the structure should be made after strengthening and adding floors. After solving the building with the additional floor with the DGT approach and determining the reinforcements and sections of the building, performance analysis can be made. Best regards...
