First of all, good day, when I try to make a simple industry in İdecad steel according to the new regulation, it gives an error and closes, I have shared the project below. can you tell me where i made a mistake?

I think I found the solution to the problem. In the selection of earthquake force carrier system, the column and beam must be entered as either a central steel braced or moment-transmitting frame. If the same column or beam is selected in both, it causes an error. Which elements should be entered into the system in an industrial structure, which transfer the moment and which ones with steel braces? Can you share an example of this?

Hello there; An error appears to have occurred during modelling. There is no problem in the attached version of the project, please check. It will be useful to follow the video in the link.

Good work.

Hello, Ms. Nurgül, First of all, I would like to point out that 1-Moment Transmitting Frame 2-Central Braced Frame selections are not made in your model. If we make these choices, if the moment transmitting frame and the steel braced frame have a common column, then the program is broken. Therefore, we cannot make this selection correctly in the program right now. I think it would be more appropriate to make this selection automatically by the program.

Hello there; Please review TBDY 2018 IMO Sample Projects and books on this subject. You can also benefit from the AISC Seismic Manual. You should not choose a common carrier system element for both types. This is about engineering, not programming. If you think about the physical meaning, there are limit situations under the effect of earthquake in both carrier systems as per the regulation. In frames with central diagonal and moment-transmitting, it will be plasticized on an element at the same time by considering both situations, and there can be no loss of bearing capacity due to this situation. It is necessary to determine a situation in real structures related to this situation and adapt the situation to the regulation with experimental and empirical studies. However, in the regulations, both the moment transferring and the common element of the central braced frame are not evaluated. In this case, the program cannot perform any operation automatically. Your main problem is that you shouldn't actually choose partners. According to this logic, you should place the frames with central braces in the other direction, which transmit moment in one direction, without any common elements. You can use the references mentioned above for this. **** In industrial buildings, the articles of the regulation should be interpreted appropriately. For example, in this single storey building of yours, you can choose only the frames with central braces for the final states of the columns and beams, instead of choosing one side with a central brace, which transmits moment, as per TBDY 2018 - Chapter 9. In this way, cross-section control of columns, beams and braces, slenderness control and transfers with the necessary D coefficient in internal forces will be applied. If you examine the regulation, the cases of increasing with D in the moment transmitters and increasing with D in the central diagonal will allow you to understand this interpretation. In summary; Yar. Doc. Dr. As our teacher Cüneyt VATANSEVER stated, common column selection should not be made. In case of selection, the program should not crash, this error has been reported. However, you also have to make a decision together with the engineering interpretation in the selection of the carrier system. As I mentioned, it would be a more appropriate solution to choose only the central braced frame elements so that a common selection does not occur for the project you sent. Good work.

Hello, In addition to what Ms. Nurgül wrote: You can choose the alternative way below in single-storey industrial type steel structures with a frame that transmits moment in one direction and a carrier system with central braced frames in the other direction and in which common columns are present. First, select and analyze only moment-transmitting frame elements (columns, beams) and get reports. Then just select and analyze central braced frame members (column, beam, brace), get reports. Use the most unsuitable result. The program does not automatically determine the earthquake force carrier system (DKTS) elements evaluated within the scope of the 9th part of TBDY 2018. This choice is left to the user.
