Heat difference loading in steel structure

Hello there; Attached is a steel bridge project. 1) Considering the temperature difference effects of the bridge, I want to load the temperature difference. I entered T1 and T2 values. After the analysis, T1 and T2 loadings do not appear in steel design combinations. Since the reduction factors are for beam, column, curtain, slabs in the analysis settings in the heat loads tab, does the program apply the heat difference loading only to the reinforced concrete elements? Or is there something I missed? How can I resolve this situation? 2) I cannot get a calculation report for the cross-end connections that I use in truss beam connections (because the program cannot design with the truss joint). In addition, I get an error as in the picture, in the diagonal additional junctions of the crosses that I connected the top header of the scissors (although not in the subheading crosses). What is the reason? 3) Geothermal power plant pipes will be transported on this bridge. I have defined the relevant pipe loads. Is there any problem in defining these loads? Is it necessary to make a new load combination for the respective loads? Finally, if you have any advice about project data entry and design, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Good work.

Re: HEAT DIFFERENCE LOADING AND SOME QUESTIONS IN STEEL STRUCTURE Hello; If you choose AISC 360-10 LRFD, which contains the same conditions as 1-YDKT, the program automatically generates combinations that include temperature difference. In addition, another alternative building tree combinations - user defined combinations tab, you can define combinations to be used in steel design. As I mentioned, you can only change the regulation because LRFD = YDKT. You can do this from the Top toolbar - Analysis and Design - Steel subtab. This arrangement has been made in your attached project. 2- The reason why you can't get a report is that 3 elements are connected to the title at the same time. The method used in the connection calculation infrastructure is valid for an element connection. Therefore, if you want to check, you can enter the combination to bind a single element to the header. For drawings, you can continue with this model. 3- In case of Whitmore tensile flow, the combination is ready - capacity value is 0. The problem here seems to be that you enter a single cross and join on it. If you do the horizontal cross entry in the same region with the cross command, there will be no problem. For 4-Fy upload, either enter a combination or do this upload under G upload instead of giving it another name. Currently, you can see the calculations from deformations and section fractions according to the loading conditions, but these values do not appear to be combined in combinations. Good work.

Re: HEAT DIFFERENCE LOADING IN STEEL STRUCTURE AND SOME QUESTIONS Hello Nurgül, First of all, thank you for your answer. For the 2nd item, I could not get a report for the single element connected point in the strut and truss beam junction as in the picture below. I deleted the join and tried again. In this case, I did not receive an account report again. Instead of creating an installation combination for Fy installation, I installed by adding G loads as you said. In this case, the sections are insufficient. Do you have any other suggestions other than increasing the cross section to provide Maj-Ksm-Ratio? Good work.

Re: HEAT DIFFERENCE LOADING AND SOME QUESTIONS IN STEEL STRUCTURE Hello; Obtain the analysis, design and project reports for the situation in item 2 from this project. Then enter the vertical and diagonal elements with a single cross command to save the model as and get reports of these combinations. That way you can get a report. For system improvement, you can ensure that every partition is square as much as possible before increasing the section. The most efficient angle in truss systems is 45 degrees, and 30-60 will perform well. In your case, the distance between two uprights is 2.1 m, but the height of the upright is 3.8 m. Good work.

Hello there; There was a situation that I noticed on the same project. In the base plate crush calculation, the concrete strength is calculated using the foundation concrete strength. Isn't it necessary to consider the concrete strength of the reinforced concrete column? I completed the analysis in file 1 of the files I sent in the attached link. Then, for manufacturing, I made an alternative to the beams with butt plate beams as in file no. 2 and tried it. However, after the analysis in file no. 2, inadequacies occurred. Is it normal to have so many deficiencies? File link:

Good work.

Hello there; - You are right about the situation about the column foot joint, it should use the reinforced concrete column, but there is an error in this version, if you delete the foundation and enter the column foot joint again, you can see that the reinforced concrete column takes the concrete class into account. Error noted. - In the other case, since the elements do not all work from the same point to form a single node point, it seems that there are problems in the links and node points that are thrown together with the additional process. We recommend that you continue with the first model. If you are going to add as in the 2nd model, the analysis results should not change anyway, so you can only use it for drawing. For the most accurate results in models, it is necessary to create a single intersection and skirt node as much as possible, you have more than one nodal point, all in different locations. For your information. Good work.

Thank you for the answer. The reason why the knot points are formed differently is due to the fact that I tried to create the scissors and cross joints properly for production. However, from now on, in such calculations, I will create the nodal points individually and after completing the analysis, I will save them as different for drawing and try to arrange the combinations geometrically. Good work in this project, I will use the 2nd alternative for drawing and use the 1st file in the analysis. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
