In the article 4.3.4.4 of the Earthquake Code, there is the expression "Meeting all earthquake effects with shear walls" for beamless floors. According to this expression, this expression means that columns cannot be used in reinforced concrete buildings that are solved with a crack-free floor. Or a column can be used, but are these columns excluded in response to earthquake effects? If so, how is this calculation done?

Hello there; If you read the rest of the article, it is understood that columns can take place. For non-beam tiled systems, article 4.3.4.4 mentions 2-stage calculation. Here, in the solution of the first stage columns for earthquake loading, it is requested to take them as hinged from the bottom and from the top and analyze in this way. In the second stage, the columns are connected monolithically and the results of the 2 stages are used for the design as mentioned in the same article. If you want to examine an example of this, you can examine the project named BA3 in the IMO Examples book. ideCAD is fully compliant with the regulation and you can learn how it designs from the video in the link.
