BASIC BUILDING PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS

good work. my question would be about build performance analysis. why performance analysis cannot be done basically. When we make a performance analysis of the structure; I can see the performance analysis of columns, beams, slabs and curtains, but there is not a single information about the foundation. How are we going to do the basic reinforcements? I want to know about this. Thanks in advance if anyone with knowledge can help.

Hello there; Earthquake code chapter 7 (evaluation and strengthening of existing structures) gives detailed information about performance analysis, but foundations are not mentioned in this section. That is, fundamentals are excluded from performance evaluation. You can follow a path like this in your projects: - if you are adding reinforcement elements and there is no foundation under these elements, you need to add foundation-reinforcement. - or if your existing foundations cannot safely transfer the loads from the superstructure to the ground, that is, if the soil safety stresses are exceeded in your existing foundations, you need to add-reinforce the foundation. - Or if your foundation sections are insufficient, you need to add-reinforce the foundation. For these and similar reasons, you, as the designer, should make the decision regarding the foundations... best regards.

Thank you, I just want to ask you something. I examined the building with the building performance analysis. but the building was immediately out of use. I did not do any reinforcement. Do I need a ground survey while examining the building with the building performance analysis?

Hello there; Of course, the soil class is an important and effective parameter in the calculation of earthquake effects, and the bearing coefficient will also be necessary if you are making a building-based interactive solution. Best regards.
