Dear İzmirlimühendis, What I wrote has nothing to do with the aproach error. I wrote it because I saw a problem with the retrofit. Empowerment is a sensitive issue and must be done consciously. It is obvious that the structure is weak in lateral load, but in order for the reinforcement to make the structure better than it is, additions and improvements made for reinforcement purposes should work together with the structure. The purpose of sheathing is to increase the bearing capacity of the element whose cross-section is not sufficient (due to concrete, reinforcement or cross-sectional area). It is not possible for a sheathing, which is made like plastering on one side of the column and does not cover the column, to work together with the old column. No matter how much anchoring you try, it will only destroy the old column. The mantle shell, which is reconstructed as stirrups and vertical reinforcement by wrapping around the old column, is designed to meet the needs on its own. In general, the old cross-section cannot be trusted at all. It stays inside like a filling material. Another alternative is to enlarge the section into the structure, but this cannot be done with 10-15 cm like sheathing. You can enlarge the section by adding a minimum 50-60 cm column inwards, of course, you must apply anchorage details to the old column firmly with this additional column. Since the area is wider, it is possible to apply many details.
